Free Course Lesson: Boaster On Attacking Vs Defending In Ranked

Pro VALORANT player Boaster shares key strategies for attacking and defending in ranked, emphasizing teamwork, communication, and adaptability in gameplay.

After FNATIC’s stunning victory at VCT Masters Tokyo last weekend, Boaster is now a TWO-TIME World Champion. To celebrate his win, we’re giving away one of the lessons of his exclusive ProGuides Masters Course for FREE.

In this lesson, Boaster shares his strategies and insights on effective attacking and defending tactics, along with the importance of teamwork, communication, and adaptability.

Here are the key points:

Attacking

  1. Teamwork is crucial. In ranked games, a 4-1 system often works best, with four players making noise and taking control while one player observes for enemy reactions.
  2. Pay attention to which agent is defending a site to avoid running into their utility or ultimate.
  3. Trading is important. If a teammate dies, another should peek and kill the enemy, creating a 4v4 scenario.
  4. Success isn’t solely about kills. Some players are meant to support those who are getting kills. Good support includes timing of utility and creating chaos for defenders.
  5. Communication is key, especially with the player on the other side of the map. This allows for quick adjustments if needed.

Defending

  1. Defense is about having solutions to what the enemies throw at you. The more solutions you have, the harder you are to play against.
  2. Goals as a defender include anti-rush setups, dealing with slower paced games, and handling solo attackers.
  3. Constantly think about how to counter what the enemy is doing.

Boaster also discusses his role as an in-game leader (IGL), where he looks at the overall picture and works the map with his teammates. He ensures their setup isn’t easily abused and constantly thinks about countering the enemy’s strategies.

The video also includes specific examples of Boaster’s gameplay, where he explains his thought process and strategies in detail. He emphasizes the importance of repositioning after getting a kill and playing time when in control.
