Rampart Quick Guide – Abilities, Tips and Tricks for Beginners
Legend Overview
Class | Difficulty | Tier List Rank |
---|---|---|
Controller | Easy | B Tier |
Rampart is a defensive legend who focuses her playstyle on holding down an area by raining down bullets. When a team plays around her utility, Rampart can be a very valuable addition to her squad. However, it can be difficult to get into positions where Rampart’s utility is beneficial and oftentimes she can end up being rather underwhelming as a result.

Strengths
- Rampart’s tactical ability Amped Cover is a great tool for holding down defensible positions in the safe zone.
- Her Mobile Minigun “Sheila” can be very strong when used properly, and with her most recent rework, it gained the ability to be picked up and used on the move.
Weaknesses
- Rampart’s Amped Cover can be destroyed easily if an opposing team is coordinated.
- Her passive is rather underwhelming and will only find much value when Light Machine Guns are in the meta.
Skill Breakdown
Class – Controller
Rampart is a Controller Class Legend. Controller Class legends can scan the Ring Console, which reveals the location of the next ring.
Passive Ability – Modded Loader
When using a Light Machine Gun, Rampart increases its magazine size by 15% and decreases reload times by 25%.
Tactical Ability (Q) – Amped Cover
Rampart builds a crouch-cover wall that deploys a full-cover amped wall. This wall can block 400 damage at its base and blocks 175 damage in the top amp cover. Additionally, when being shot through the amped cover, bullets receive a 20% damage boost.
Ultimate Ability (Z) – Mobile Minigun “Sheila”
Rampart equips a mobile minigun with a single high-capacity magazine. This minigun can be wielded by Rampart and used on the move or placed down for anyone to use as a stationary turret.
Tips and Tricks

Tip #1 – Covering the Doors
Rampart’s tactical ability Amped Cover is a great ability for creating cover in the map’s open areas. This ability also has used when inside buildings with doors. When you’re inside of a building, place your Amped Cover in front of a door, and it will create an additional cover that allows you to open doors and take shots from the safety of your own cover. Not to mention that this ability will also be an obstacle that prevents opponents from entering your building as easily.
Tip #2 – Defensive Minded
Many players that pilot Rampart don’t consider how she’s intended to be played. Rampart’s abilities are designed to hold down an area and prevent opponents from pushing. With this being said, she doesn’t provide much in terms of offensive power. The only ability she has that can be used to push an opposing team is her ultimate ability Sheila, but this weapon is not exactly easy to move around with and prevents her from healing as easily or escaping bad situations.
