Octane is the definition of a fast legend in Apex Legends. His tactical ability and ultimate ability offer some of the fastest movement in the game and are great tools for both offense and defense. When players piloting Octane look to use his Launch Pad for their teammates and have great use of their tactical ability Stim, this legend can be a dominating force on the map.

Strengths

  • Octane can use his tactical ability Stim repetitively, allowing him consistent access to a major speed boost.
  • His ultimate Launch Pad is a great movement ability that his entire team can access.

Weaknesses

  • Octane’s passive Swift Mend was nerfed recently, resulting in a more underwhelming health recovery.
  • His tactical ability Stim now takes more of his health points, meaning players must be more conscious of how and when they use this ability.

Tips and Tricks

Tip #1 – Stimming at the Appropriate Time

Octane’s tactical ability Stim is a very powerful ability at the center of his identity. This ability is great for chasing down enemies, entering fights, and escaping bad situations. There is one thing that every Octane player needs to be conscious of when using this ability, though, and that is only using it when needed.

Gone are the days of spamming Octane’s stim and running at the speed of light, this ability received some major nerfs a few seasons ago and now drains a load of health points when it’s used. If you’re an Octane player, you must be conscious of how often you use this ability. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself entering fights and getting knocked down quickly because of your low health, especially when Caustic’s Gas surrounds you or outside the ring!

Tip #2 – Taking Point

All Octane players should be the pointer dog of their team. What we mean by this is that you should be coordinating rotations and looking to use his ultimate ability Launch Pad to perform coordinated rotations and pushes with your teammates. Octane’s pad can transport all his teammates nearly simultaneously, which can be combined well with abilities such as Revenant’s ultimate ability Death Totem. When playing Octane, try to be proactive with Launch Pads and coordinate with your team, and you will find much more success than just using this tool on your own.
