Norwegian operative Deadlock deploys an array of cutting-edge nanowire to secure the battlefield from even the most lethal assault. No one escapes her vigilant watch nor survives her unyielding ferocity. She’s built for surprising enemies with deployable utility that stops them in their tracks. However, timing is crucial for capitalizing on her extremely hard-to-use abilities.

Strengths

  • Deadlock’s stall and ability to stop enemies pushing her position is second to none in Valorant, easily stopping the enemy team’s advance with just the click of a button.
  • Her utility is extremely hard to counter since most of her traps and nets are deployed mid round rather then set up before round.
  • Deadlock synergizes effortlessly with other powerful utility on your team, creating a perfect combination. By ensnaring or delaying opponents with her net, she sets the stage for devastating plays. For instance, when enemies are trapped, the likes of a Raze grenade can swiftly secure kills, leading to extraordinary value gained.

Weaknesses

  • To maximize the effectiveness of her utility, Deadlock relies heavily on impeccable timing. Tossing her net too late risks allowing the enemy to establish a presence on the site before being ensnared. Conversely, throwing it too early increases the likelihood of the net being easily shattered. Thus, Deadlock’s success hinges on finding that delicate balance, ensuring her net captures opponents at the optimal moment.
  • While Deadlock’s abilities are difficult to break, it’s crucial to understand that they primarily restrict enemy movement rather than affecting their shooting abilities. This means that opponents with precise aim and quick reflexes can easily punish you if you try to make wide swings or aggressive plays. While Deadlock’s utility grants control and disruption, it doesn’t directly shield you from gunfire or help give advantages in one on one gunfights.
  • Comparing her offensive capabilities with other sentinels, Deadlock falls short, and is currently considered one of the weakest. Enemies can bypass her audio-activated trips, allowing them to sneak past undetected. Moreover, her other abilities lack informational value and fail to provide adequate support for making effective lurk plays or holding positions securely. As a result, Deadlock faces significant challenges in gathering information and maintaining personal safety during gameplay.

Skill Breakdown

Ability 1 (C) – Gravnet

Equip a GravNet grenade. Fire to throw. Alt fire to lob the grenade underhand. The GravNet detonates upon landing, forcing any enemies caught within to crouch and move slowly.

Ability 2 (Q) – Sonic Sensor

Equip a sonic sensor. Fire to deploy. The sensor monitors an area for enemies making sound. If footsteps, weapons fire, or significant noise are detected, it concusses that area.

Signature Ability (E) – Barrier Mesh

Equip a barrier mesh disc. Fire to throw forward. Upon landing, the disc generates barriers from the origin point that block character movement.

Ultimate Ability (X) – Annihilation

Equip a nanowire accelerator. Fire to unleash a pulse of nanowires that captures the first enemy contacted. The cocooned enemy is pulled along a nanowire path and will die if they reach the end unless freed. The nanowire cocoon is destructible.

Tips and Tricks

Tip #1 – Control Rotations

Deadlock is extremely hard to use on attack, so having some lineups for your barrier before your team takes site is a huge game changer. Use this lineup on Pearl to block off rotations from the enemies rotating from mid link. Your teammates will thank you for it!

Tip #2 – Jump Tripping

Deadlock’s trips are audio activated, so you want to always take advantage of locations where enemies are forced to make noise. Examples of good trip locations could be for enemies jumping out of Bind window on B site, or A drop on Fracture.
