The 3 Best Legends to Main in Season 17
Apex Legends offers an ever-growing range of Legends to choose from, each with different abilities that give them various advantages or disadvantages if you’re unfamiliar with their kit. With the landscape changing as each season rolls out, you may be wondering who are the best Legends to play currently. To help with that, we’ll go over three Legends that will be fun to play, while also providing you with a solid chance at success.
Bangalore

Bang sits on the S tier of both of our tier lists, so putting her at the top of our suggestions list makes a lot of sense. Bangalore is rated so high for one key reason; her kit’s flexibility makes her one of the best Legends to play. All of her abilities are simultaneously offensive and defensive, and she’s in the powerful Assault Class to boot.
We’ll start by looking at her underrated passive, Double Time. This passive gives Bangalore a speed boost when someone shoots near you, which can really make the difference in whether you make it to cover under fire. It also helps in situations where you’re fighting someone 1vs1, as the extra speed can throw your opponent’s aim off entirely. You can even use the boost to run down your opponents during engagements, closing the distance before they realize you’re on top of them.
Her Smoke Launcher tactical is also quite flexible, as it has the ability to throw off a controller player’s aim assist, so keep that in mind if you’re a mouse and keyboard player looking to even the playing field.
You’ll see players use her smoke in one of two ways, either smoking towards enemies to prevent them from damaging them as they approach, or smoking to cover themselves or specific angles as they maneuver.
Bangalore can be downright lethal when you combine her smokes with the Digi scope that you can place onto the close-quarters weapons. Also, remember how we mentioned the Assault Class? Well, the Assault Bins can spawn Digis for Bang, making this a deadly combination.
When you can see through the smoke, you can smoke right at your feet with an enemy nearby and then fire on them from the cover, leaving them oblivious to your actual location unless they’re equipped with a digi as well.
Finally, Bang’s Rolling Thunder ultimate is just as flexible as the rest of the kit. You can use it to deny a team’s push against you, either before they get ready to push or stop them in their tracks when they’re out in the open. Alternatively, you can use it aggressively as well. Want to force a team back away from you? You can do that. Is the team playing outside of a building? The missiles will force them inside. Given that the missiles explode in the direction that they landed, you can ‘chase’ the explosions in, really maximizing the space that you can take with it.
Let’s review:
- Bangalore gives you aggressive and defensive power
- Combine her smokes with Digital Threat scopes for maximum impact
- Use her ultimate to clear teams out of spaces
Loba

Though Loba was already pretty underrated, she has been gathering power steadily over the last few seasons. Loba is one of the best Legends to play because she enables you and your team to be at their very best. Nothing is more frustrating than dying because you were stuck with a bad weapon, no ammo, or you didn’t have the scope that you needed to be effective. How many times do you have to risk your life to grab a heal, or grab some extra ammo after running low?
Loba’s Black Market lets you safely grab loot, plus she drops into each match with it charged up 50% already. She’s fantastic for always making sure you have what you need, be it a certain weapon, a favorite scope, or a surplus of ammo.
Loba is also excellent for picking up grenades, which are a massively underutilized tool in Apex by the lower-ranked players. These inexperienced players will just pick the nades up, then throw them around frivolously, ultimately forgetting to replenish their stock. Having Black Market available reminds players that nades exist, and they can grab them easily.
Additionally, Loba’s market can be clutch for resetting, be it quickly grabbing something after a revive or looting a Mobile Respawn Beacon, or heat shields in a bind. Loba also has access to the extra supplies in nearby support bins.
The Support Class received a huge buff heading into Season 17. Now, any Legend that is on a team with a Support Legend can craft expired banners. That reduced some of the pain of playing a Legend such as Loba. Now, you don’t have to be worried about always having to run away if things get ugly, because you don’t carry the sole responsibility of pulling teammates back from the ether.
Her bracelet adds solid movement versatility to her kit, as it can be thrown through windows or across certain gaps in buildings. If you tried Loba a long time ago, her bracelet was not as good as it is now after some significant improvements. Now, Loba can move at normal speed while it travels through the air, so don’t forget that the bracelet exists!
Loba’s passive is also handy, and while it’s not exactly game-breaking, it can help to gear up quickly on the drop. Do you see an outline of a Purple item? Guide yourself towards it and get stacked.
In review:
- Loba can help you stay stocked with grenades
- Your team will never run out of ammo
- Reset quickly and loot safely using her Black Market
Pathfinder

While some players may prefer a Legend with more damage options in their kit, the fact that Pathfinder is one of the most fun Legends to play also makes him one of the best Legends in the game right now. If you’re having fun playing a Legend, you’re probably going to perform better as a result.
Pathfinder has been on a journey throughout Apex Legends’ lifetime. Early on, he was an absolute must-pick, but then he was nerfed into the ground over several seasons. He gained the nickname “The Fridge” for his massive hitbox, and quickly became quite difficult to play.
Now, Pathfinder is back! His Zipline received huge buffs last season, and the reactive cooldown on his Grapple is stellar game design, with his passive being silly but in a good way.
The Grapple is the standout star of Pathfinder’s kit, and like all the Legends we are recommending, it’s flexible in a variety of situations. A good grappler is pretty much impossible to catch. You can move around the map like Spider-Man with some practice, and no one will be able to chase you, all while you have a massive grin plastered on your face.
The inverse is also true, though. A good grappler is virtually impossible to escape. If you did a huge chunk of damage to a player, Pathfinder allows you to grapple on top of that player’s head while he tries to heal, and he’ll be dead before they even know what hit them.
Players often complained about Pathfinder’s passive being pretty useless, and thankfully, the changes heading into last season addressed this. Pathfinder will now have his ult charged whenever he looks at a care package, which allows you to string together some wild rotations around the map. Just place a zipline, look at a package, then look at another package, and so on and so forth.
The Zipline is no longer a practice in throwing yourself to your death either. As part of the Season 16 patch, Pathfinder received extra length and speed to the Zipline. This makes it difficult, but not impossible, to snipe someone off of the zipline unless they’re heading straight at you.
Still, the fun factor is what ultimately helps Pathfinder stand out. Moving around the map while using his abilities is one of the most enjoyable ways to experience Apex and therefor, he’s one of the best Legends you can main this season.
Our last review:
- Have fun using Pathfinder’s abilities
- Scan care packages to get your ult back
- Grapple away from, or towards, any opponents.
There you have it, three Legends that you can main and have a blast with throughout Season 17. Will you be trying one of them? How did it go? Do you think we missed anyone in particular? Let us know!
